          BOARD OF DIRECTORS

          About the Board

          The Board of Directors supports the work of Tails of Hope and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. This is a working board. Board members are asked to actively participate and contribute to the overall success of our organization and the community we serve. Service on the Board is without remuneration, except for pre-Board-approved costs in relation to Board activities.


          Responsibilities, Expectations, Meeting Time & Commitment

          Member positions are available now.

          Non-profit Board experience preferred but not required.

          Members of the Board of Directors will do an initial review of applications. Top candidates will be contacted for an interview/discussion.

          • Board Membership is encouraged, but not required, to serve on a Committee.
          • Committees meet quarterly at minimum, and more often as needed to meet its goals.
          • These are working Committees. Committee members must consistently attend and actively participate in both discussion and action to produce positive results.

          The Finance Committee works closely with the President, Treasurer, and Executive Director to safeguard and build the organization's financial health.


          Taks include, but are not limited to:

          • Budgeting and financial planning
          • Financial forecasting and reporting
          • Helping the rest of the Board understand the organization's financial health

          The Fundraising Committee works closely with a member of the Finance Committee and Executive Director to coordinate, promote, execute, and grow Tails of Hope's fundraising efforts through annual events, special campaigns, community events, or in the creation of new events.


          Annual fundraising events currently include:

          • Breakfast at Kitteny's
          • #PayItForwardDay
          • PAOH Gives
          • #GivingTuessday
          • Holiday Fund Drive/Year-end Giving

          The People Committee works closely with a Board Director and Executive Director to recruit, engage, and retain new and existing Board Members, Staff, and Volunteers to grow and maintain a thriving organization.


          Tasks include:

          • Procurement of nominees to strategically fill vacancies on the Board as needed
          • Always strengthening organization Core Values/Culture
          • Supporting Board, Staff and Volunteer experience and satisfaction
