2026 marks the 10th Anniversary of Tails of Hope, the first - and still the only - non-profit Spay/Neuter clinic in Mercer County, PA, serving the front line of animal welfare and as a beacon of hope for pet population control, animal, and overall community health. With your support, TOH's low-cost to no-cost programs have made an exponential impact and played a pivotal role in keeping pets healthier, keeping pets & families together, strengthening public health through prevention of contracting and spreading disease, and reducing shelter intake, thus reducing the long-term burden to shelters/rescues.
Shelters/rescues are overburdened and overflowing and we cannot adopt our way out of it. Tails of Hope’s programs address the root cause of problems before they start and do all of this at the lowest cost to shelters, other animal organizations, municipalities, pet parents and the public. Spay/Neuter reduces shelter intake pressure at the lowest cost so existing shelters can function better, not just bigger. Get the FAQs on why investing in Spay/Neuter is not charity - it is infrastructure. Instead of giving a donation, you can invest in engineering a permanent change for our community.
Despite significant progress, there remains an ongoing need for deeper understanding of the importance of a Spay/Neuter clinic as the wisest investment in pet welfare and how our relationships with other animal welfare groups, municipalities, and residents can foster a compassionate community where both humans and pets thrive. Read what our local shelters have to say about the necessity and impact of Tails of Hope's programs on them, animals, and the public.

“I know how proud my brother Tom would be about Tails of Hope, built and named in his honor, and how many animals have not suffered due to overpopulation. What an asset Tails of Hope has been for the last 10 years, and we look forward to the next decade and future.”

"Ten years ago, Tails of Hope was built on a simple belief—that creating a legacy based on compassion can change lives. What began as hope has become healing, second chances, and a community that never gives up on pets or people. This milestone belongs to every volunteer, supporter, and soul who believed love could lead the way and helped us turn hope into action with lasting impact for pets, people, and the community.
As we look forward to the next ten years and beyond, we are focused on creating a sustainable legacy. Hope should never have limits and, with your support for our endowment campaign, we can ensure Tails of Hope’s programs continue to grow, serve, and save lives for many generations at the lowest cost to people, shelters, and the community.”

And without local municipality or state funding for our community service, Tails of Hope depends on generous donations from our community each year.
Our programs are the front line of animal health and a vital community-protection strategy demonstrating exceptional commitment to preventative care.
We expand access to services and remove barriers for pet families, shelters, and compassionate caretakers.
Every Spay/Neuter surgery funded is a crisis avoided. Few donations can honestly say that.

Our goal is to pay off our mortgage and permanently endow our programs to serve families, shelters/rescues, and homeless pets and to make them affordable & accessible forever for real, lasting change.
A Spay/Neuter endowment is not charity - it is infrastructure. Instead of giving a donation, you can engineer permanent change for our community.

The Power of Prevention
Shelters and rescues overflowing and overburdened.
And we cannot adopt our way out of it.
Our neighborhoods and farms continue to have homeless cats and dogs abandoned there, unwanted, unspayed/neutered, and without shelters or rescues with room to take them.
DID YOU KNOW . . .
Spay/Neuter is the most essential and wisest investment for meaningful progress for animal welfare groups, families, and the community overall.

Milestones & Statistics measure the work we do and the need to do more. However, we are always mindful that behind these numbers are cats, dogs, generations of litters, their human guardians and families, compassionate caretakers, and other animal welfare organizations.
